A-3 Mechanic Cap The A-3 Mechanics Cap was originally designed as a work cap for aircraft mechanics in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II. Due to its simple design and comfortable fit, it became widely popular and was worn by many servicemen in the USAAF. At the time, it was common for servicemen to personalize their caps with names, ranks, Pin-Up Girls, or various other designs. They often wore the cap tilted or with the brim flipped up to showcase their individual style. This cap is made from herringbone twill (HBT) fabric and features a classic six-panel dome structure with a fully enclosed design. The brim contains wire, allowing it to be freely shaped into the desired form. In addition to the classic olive green, it is also available in black and natural canvas colors.
